The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
Azeez Sani, the acting director of public affairs at NECO, made this known on Wednesday, July 9, during the award committee meeting, when he announced that a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination in 12 subjects.

NECO in the statement explained that the examination commenced on May 12, 2025, and was concluded on May 23, 2025.
The results of the examination were released following the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
Folake David, director of basic education at the Federal Ministry of Education, who was the chairperson of the award committee, during the meeting, expressed satisfaction with the processes leading to the successful release of the results.

The award committee meeting was also attended by some secondary school principals from across the country as well as NECO management.
Besides, the award committee approved the date and timetable for the 2025 BECE re-sit.
The re-sit examination, according to NECO, is scheduled to be held on July 23 and 24, 2025, for Mathematics and English Studies.
