President Bola Tinubu on Friday visited frontline troops in Katsina State, vowing that the nation “will not bow to terror.”
Addressing soldiers under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, President Tinubu rallied the troops with a call to remain steadfast in the fight to reclaim peace in the Northwest, declaring there would be “no retreat, no surrender” in the ongoing battle for the Country’s future.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence on Friday, the unannounced visit, devoid of the usual high-ranking Military entourage, marked a rare and personal gesture by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, aimed at assessing first-hand the operational conditions and boosting the morale of soldiers engaged in the fight against insurgency, terrorism, and banditry in the Northwest.

Addressing the troops, President Tinubu described the ongoing Military operations as more than just territorial defence.
“The fight you are waging here in Katsina and across the country is not just a battle for territory; it is a battle for the soul of Nigeria. Nigeria depends on you, and I am with you today, tomorrow, and always. Stay strong. Stay focused”, he declared.
The president, who acknowledged the gravity of the security challenges facing the nation, stressed the importance of unity and courage among the armed forces.
“I stand before you today not just as your President and Commander-in-Chief, but as a fellow patriot, deeply humbled by your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the peace, security, and sovereignty of our great nation,” he said.
He lauded the bravery and patriotism of the troops, emphasising that every victory on the field contributes to a safer Nigeria.
“Every inch of ground you hold, every terrorist you neutralize, and every community you secure is a victory for justice, freedom, and the future of our children,” Tinubu stated.

Acknowledging the sacrifices made by soldiers, many of whom have been separated from their families for extended periods, the president said, “You face danger not for wealth or recognition, but for the love of our dear country. That, my brothers and sisters in uniform, is the highest form of patriotism.”
President Tinubu used the opportunity to outline ongoing and upcoming government initiatives aimed at improving military welfare.
He assured the troops of robust support, including enhanced access to advanced technology, intelligence, logistics, and timely allowances.
“Your welfare is my top priority. We are committed to ensuring your families are safe, your allowances are paid promptly, your healthcare is guaranteed, and your dignity upheld.
“Housing programs, family support systems, insurance coverage, and improved remuneration are being implemented without delay”, he affirmed.
The president warned those attempting to destabilise the nation, assuring Nigerians that the Military remains fully prepared to protect the Country’s sovereignty.
