Kegites, a Nigerian cultural organisation, has donated essential supplies to American military veterans as part of celebrations marking their first anniversary in the United States.

The Universal Archaivar Elders (UAE), also known as the Egbe Agba Elemu, visited the Orlando Fisher House in Florida to deliver household items, food, toiletries, and coffee to families of military personnel and veterans.

The donation was part of a week-long programme celebrating the group’s first year since its launch. The anniversary theme, “Mirroring Who We Want to Be – Beyond One Finger Salute,” focused on community service and cultural values.

During the celebrations, the UAE highlighted their major achievement from the past year – a community medical programme in Lagos, Nigeria, where more than 600 people received free health checks and follow-up care.

Elder Basorun Fayth Deleola Daramola, the group’s president, said: “This is more than a celebration – it is a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to cultural excellence, service, and global unity. From Nigeria to the United States, we remain steadfast in using our collective strength to serve, to give, and to uplift.”

The Fisher House offers temporary accommodation and support to military families while their loved ones undergo medical treatment. George Denby Jr., the facility’s manager, praised the UAE’s contribution.

“The visit by UAE was incredibly moving,” he said. “Their generosity, cultural dignity, and sincere desire to give back were a blessing to the families we serve. It’s rare to see such thoughtful commitment from an international group.”

The anniversary celebrations also saw several new members join the organisation, including Elder Kenneth Sorinmade, Elder Prince Adebowale Oyebamiji, and Elder Dr Edward Alo.

A special highlight was the induction of Royal Elder Oba Olasoji Oladele, who holds the traditional title of Sooko Adimula Obalufon, bringing royal recognition to the group.

Member Olori Modupe Ojajuni-Rahman reflected on the group’s mission: “This gathering reminds us that community service is not only godly and divine – it is also a vehicle for unity in diversity and the bedrock of peaceful coexistence.”

The UAE members also enjoyed visits to Orlando’s famous attractions, including Magic Kingdom, Aquatica, and SeaWorld, combining leisure with fellowship during their stay.
