The recently completed PituRooms in Indonesia has to be one of the skinniest hotels in the world. Designed by Sahabat Selojene, it has a width of just 280 cm and provides an excellent example of overcoming a very challenging inner-city plot.

The River Forest Lookout puts shipping container-based architecture on a pedestal – literally. It takes the form of a fire lookout tower-style design that consists of two containers raised 60 ft above the forest floor in rural Georgia.

Canada's Acorn Tiny Homes has unveiled a new model that once again pushes the boundaries of small living. The True North Retreat will sleep up to seven people, at a squeeze, and will also feature a dedicated barbecue area accessible from the outside.

Having delivered on its initial promise of an egg-shaped off-grid tiny house, Ecocapsule now plans a new and improved model. Named the Ecocapsule NextGen, the dwelling will maintain the same novel egg-like form but in a more spacious shell.

Minimaliste's Nomad was originally conceived as an all-weather model in a smaller and easier-to-tow package. The firm has now iterated on that tiny house with the Nomad 30, which offers a new interior layout and an adventure-ready off-grid design.

While it's important to find homes for the houseless, the truth is that many people will stay living on the street in the meantime. The Mini Mansion is made with that fact in mind, as a portable and better equipped alternative to current options.
