Energia/Oando Joint Venture (JV) Limited has taken a step higher in tackling insecurity in its host communities located in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State.

Such a step includes the donation of three Sienna vehicles, 24 motorcycles and over 50 VHF radios aimed at beefing up security surveillance in Emu-Ebendo, Obodougwa, Umusam, Ogbeani, Isumpe, Umusadege and Ogbole, which are the host communities of Energia/Oando Joint Venture (JV) Limited.

Speaking at the event, Bash Olademeji, an engineer and chief operating officer, Energia Limited, said that Energia/Oando JV is committed to the security, safety and well-being of the host communities.

“Aside from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and as part of Community Social Responsibility (CSR), the JV is committed to improving security within the host communities”, he said.

While commending the Communities for their sustainable peace, Olademeji noted that if not for the peace enjoyed, they wouldn’t have been in business.

He urged the people of the communities to continue to dialogue as violence does not bring a solution to anything. So, if there are issues, we will listen, and if we are successful, we will do more, he said.

Contributing, Frank Omoko, the permanent secretary, Delta state Ministry of Oil and Gas, urged the host communities to make judicious use of the items donated to them as well as seek advice from the security because they are well-equipped in that area.

“I believe whatever instruments Energia has put in place are to complement the security forces, whether motorcycles or vehicles, know that you are tied to the police and the military.

“You must have that synergy. You cannot just work on your own; you must seek advice from the police and the military because they are well-equipped in that area.

“Ensure that you work smoothly with them so that we can have peace and build more on the peace that is already existing in this environment. It is peace we need in the state, if there is peace, there will be discovery of more oil wells”, he noted.

Both Raman Abibo, a captain in the Nigerian Army, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kwale and Abbi Divisions, urged the host communities to use the items for the purpose they were donated, adding that whenever they need support, they would always receive a response.

He urged the company to also remember the security agents for always ensuring the peace and protection of life and property

Responding on behalf of the host communities, Sunday Enewuzo, Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC) Emu-Ebendo, hailed Energia/Oando JV for the good works in the host communities.

He assured that all impacted communities would continue to protect and guide the company’s facilities. “When there is any harm to your facilities, it also affects our share. We will always ensure the security of your staff and faculty in the communities”, he pledged.
