Policy Vault Africa, a digital repository of public policy, has proposed a partnership with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to digitise at no cost to government, all policies and strategic documents under the ministry.

The move aims to preserve all policies, strategic documents, and frameworks under the ministry in their original form to support institutional memory, evidence-based planning, and public transparency.

“This partnership represents an opportunity to strengthen institutional memory and ensure that our planning and policy processes remain transparent and driven by accessible data,” Abubakar Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, noted in a statement.

He highlighted the ministry’s strong interest in collaborating with the organisation to advance the nation’s digital governance agenda.

On his part, Ikechukwu Ofuani, senior adviser and partner at Policy Vault Africa, explained that by providing authentic, unaltered policy documents, the organisation supports governments, researchers, private sector actors, and citizens to make informed decisions that shape Africa’s future.

“Nigeria’s policies are rich in vision and technical rigour. Our goal is to ensure that these resources are preserved and accessible to drive continuity, inclusivity, and effective implementation.”

According to Damilola Atiri, country manager for Policy Practice, the partnership would align Nigeria’s policy systems with global best practices in digital governance and open government, strengthening its position as a leader in public sector innovation on the continent.

The organisation continues to deepen engagements with governments and institutions across Africa to accelerate digital transformation, drive transparent policymaking, and build resilient, knowledge-based societies.
