The Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) is set to host the second edition of its annual Tourism and Retreat Roundtable, taking place from May 9 to 11, 2025, at De-Signature Hotels, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Themed “Repositioning Nigeria’s Tourism and Hospitality Sectors: From Seasonal Hype to Sustainable Prosperity,” this year’s Roundtable builds on the success of the inaugural retreat held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, in October 2024. That event featured distinguished guests including the Ogun State Commissioner for Tourism, who delivered the keynote address.
This year, the Roundtable will once again convene leaders, innovators, and experts from across the tourism, legal, and business sectors. Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Oyo State, will deliver the keynote address. The event will also feature engaging panel discussions with industry thought leaders, including Olatunde Busari, SAN; Enitan Rewane; Nnenna M.T. Fakoya-Smith; and Ajibola Ogunkeyede.
Speaking on the theme, Pamilerin Akabunwa, Chairperson of the Planning Committee, remarked: “This year’s theme resonates deeply with stakeholders across the tourism and hospitality landscape. Nigeria’s tourism sector must evolve beyond ‘Detty December’ to a year-round engine for sustainable economic prosperity.”
In addition to the robust discussions and networking opportunities, participants will enjoy curated tourist experiences, including visits to iconic cultural landmarks such as the Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, the Heritage Museum, Bower Towers, and Tunde Odunlade’s Art Gallery, as well as courtesy visits to key industry stakeholders.
The 2025 Retreat promises a rich blend of insight, exploration, and engagement. It is a must-attend for legal, business, and tourism professionals committed to advancing Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality sectors from periodic hype to long-term value.
