… launch 3,500 additional hectares rice farm
Nasarawa State Government, in partnership with the Federal Government, has commenced the distribution of free fertilizer to 74,800 farmers across the State as part of efforts to boost yields production.
The distribution ceremony, tagged: each farmer to a bag of fertilizer, earmarked 500 bags of fertilizer to selected farmers in each of the 147 political wards, while 100 bags were set aside for distribution to each of the 13 Local Government Areas of the State.
At the flagg-off of the distribution of fertilizer to the deserving farmers in Lafia recently, Governor Abdullahi Sule is confident that the farmers would increase crop production and boost farming activities in the State.
The governor, who appreciated President Bola Tinubu for facilitating the distribution of the free fertilizer to farmers, said that the gesture was meant to further boost farming activities with a view to enhancing food security in the State and the Country at large.
He, therefore reiterated his Administration’s commitment to providing conducive environment for investment in the agricultural sector, through timely provision of improved farm inputs and agricultural equipment for increased crop production.

The governor, added, was part of his Administration’s efforts towards food sufficiency, the State Government had cultivated 2000 hectares of rice last year in Jangwa in Awe Local Government Area with additional 3,500 hectares to be cultivated in Danka/Ayarkeke in Obi Local Government area in this year.
“Today, we are commencing the 2025 cropping flag-off and distribution of fertilizer to our teeming farmers in the State.
“Let me at this moment appreciate President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for this gesture of free fertilizer to the state, for which we are distributing free fertilizer to all the farmers.
“The fertilizer will be distributed to all the local governments and administrative councils at no cost to the farmer. This is to ensure that all farmers across the state benefit from this government gesture,” he stated.
Governor Sule, however warned against diversion of the commodity, saying, “let me categorically warn that those handling the distribution of the fertilizer and other farming inputs will be held responsible for any anomaly in the distribution of the commodities in their respective Local Government”, he added.
He assured that his administration would harness the agricultural potentials of the state by strengthening the security architecture to allow citizens to go to farms without hindrance.
