Nigerian international and Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, presented his CAF 2024 African Footballer of the Year award to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos State.
Lookman, the reigning African Footballer of the Year, continued his post-season engagements with a high-profile visit to the President as part of his thank-you tour following an outstanding 2024/25 season with Atalanta in Italy.
Lookman, 27, succeeded compatriot Victor Osimhen, who claimed the prestigious award in 2023. He earned the accolade for his stellar performances with both club and country, most notably at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, where he scored three goals and provided one assist in seven matches for the Super Eagles.
The Nigerian winger also played an important role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League success, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, cementing his status as one of Africa’s elite players.
Earlier this week, Lookman returned to his roots on Lagos Island, where he was met with a rousing welcome by enthusiastic fans and community members. Carrying his CAF award, the forward was received with chants, music, and jubilation, a true hero’s homecoming.
Lookman was officially crowned Africa’s best at a star-studded ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, last December, capping off a season of individual brilliance and national pride.
