Turkish sports journalist Ömer Faruk Özcan has offered fresh insight into the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, revealing the forward has been “convinced” to remain at Galatasaray beyond the current transfer window.

Despite strong interest from top European clubs, including Chelsea, Osimhen appears set to continue with the Turkish champions after a successful loan spell last season.

According to Özcan, Galatasaray president Abdullah Kavukcu is now engaged in transfer negotiations with Napoli to secure the 26-year-old on a permanent deal.

“Second bombshell in Galatasaray… Leroy Sane is over, Osimhen is next! The player was convinced. Abdullah Kavukcu is in transfer negotiations with Napoli,” Özcan was quoted as saying by Habersarikirmizi.

This development follows Galatasaray’s announcement on Thursday of the high-profile signing of Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich.

Club vice president Ibrahim Hatipoglu also expressed confidence that a deal for Osimhen will be completed soon, as the Turkish Super Lig champions prioritise keeping the former Lille striker, who made a strong impact during his loan spell.
